Position to Fill: Popcorn Coordinators for Fall 2010!

Posted on Jul 24 2010 - 1:11pm

We are seeking any parents with extra time in September and October to help coordinate our annual Popcorn Fundraiser. The job essentially entails ordering loads of different varieties of popcorn items through Daniel Webster Council and Trails End, distributing to the Pack (in the past, this has been from the coordinator's garage or shed/trailer), coordinating follow-on popcorn orders to fulfill the needs of the sales force, and then organizing the collection of the monies at the end of the sale period. Also, in the past the job has included organizing "Show and Sells" locations where scouts gather together at local businesses to sell in groups. To share the load of this effort, it might be best to split the work among several volunteers. Please consider the job and let the Cubmaster (Andy Violette) or Committee Chair (Neil Towey) know if you are interested. With the summer break upon us, we'd like to fill this position well before the Fall for obvious reasons. Thanks!

YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING for all parent volunteers at camp

Posted on Jul 10 2010 - 7:44am

New this year: ALL parent volunteers at day camp and resident camp must complete Youth Protection Training before camp begins. This will ensure a safe environment at camp for both scouts and adults and the training will give parent leaders a good idea of what will be expected of them. To complete the training online, go to www.myscouting.org and click on "create an account" to register. You will be registering without a Member ID unless you are already a registered Cub Scout leader (in which case your member ID number is on your BSA card). Once you've registered, log on and take the training called "Youth Protection." At the end you can print out the certificate of completion and take it with you on the first day of camp. Congratulations!
